McDonald’s India – North and East ropes in Bollywood actor KartikAaryan as the Brand Ambassador

KartikAaryan Tiwari, an Indian actor who appears in Hindi films, was born on November 22, 1990. He majored in engineering before making his acting debut in Luv Ranjan’s buddy movie PyaarKaPunchnama (2011). He later appeared in the love stories AkaashVani (2013) and Kaanchi (2014); however, both failed to advance his career.

Aaryan enjoyed commercial success with Ranjan’s comedies SonuKeTitu Ki Sweety (2018) and PyaarKaPunchnama 2 (2015), with the latter serving as his breakthrough movie. He rose to fame by appearing in the 2019 romantic comedies Luka Chuppi and PatiPatniAurWoh and the comedy horror movie BhoolBhulaiyaa 2. (2022).

The American international fast food business McDonald’s Corporation was established in 1940 in San Bernardino, California, as a restaurant run by Richard and Maurice McDonald. The Golden Arches logo was first used in 1953 at a site in Phoenix, Arizona when they changed the name of their firm to a hamburger stand. Later, they transformed the business into a franchise. Businessman Ray Kroc, who had joined the organisation as a franchise agent in 1955, later acquired the chain from the McDonald brothers. Before June 2018, McDonald’s relocated its worldwide headquarters from Oak Brook, Illinois, to Chicago.

By revenue, McDonald’s is the largest restaurant chain in the world, with more than 40,000 locations serving more than 69 million customers daily in more than 100 countries. Although they also offer other foods on their menus, including chicken, fish, fruit, and salads, McDonald’s is most known for its hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and French fries. The Big Mac and their French fries are two of their most well-known licenced menu items.

KartikAaryan has been appointed as the company’s brand ambassador by McDonald’s India – North and East, which claims that the actor’s affinity for young people will improve the company’s presence in this region.

Sanjeev Agrawal, the company’s regional chairman, said, “KartikAaryan is a youth icon and a popular name in families, just like we are. His strong connect with the audiences, mass appeal and captivating personality has made him emerge as an icon for India’s young demographic, which resonates strongly with our ethos. We are excited to welcome him to the ‘McFamily’.”

“McDonald’s has been a part of my growing up years. The name elicits so many happy memories from my teenage days and the brand continues to be special in my life. It gives me immense pleasure to be associated with it. I am excited to be a part of the family and look forward to working on interesting, cool, and fun-filled projects with the brand,” Aryan said.

According to a statement from the company, the actor will interact with people of all ages, mainly Gen Z and millennials, in various contexts, resulting in solid brand salience for the business.

Additionally, the company claimed that as part of its brand strategy, it has been changing its menu items and adding new options in response to the tastes and preferences of its clients. According to the corporation, Connaught Plaza Restaurants Pvt. Ltd., which runs this region’s business, boasts 150 locations throughout north and eastern India. For roughly 5,000 individuals, it is a source of employment.

According to a study by Edelweiss that used information from Technopak and estimated the size of the Indian food services market at $4,236 billion in FY20. According to the business, the QSR chain market will increase at a 23% CAGR over the next five years. This will apply to the entire food service business, not just the chain market.
